Emilia Jácome
Hello! My name is Emilia Jácome, and I am the 2024-2025 Co-Secretary of SACNAS+ here at Columbia University. I’m currently a second-year student in Columbia College, majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior and on the pre-med track.
My Story
I am from Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, a city on the island’s west coast. I joined SACNAS+ because I wanted to find a space that valued the diverse experiences that shape each person’s journey in STEM. Coming from a place with fewer opportunities compared to mainland U.S., it was important for me to connect with a supportive community that shares similar goals. SACNAS+ has provided me with that space, and I’m excited to help foster this environment for others. Outside of school, I love listening to music and exploring different genres and languages in the media. A fun fact about me is I love Pinkberry. One of my favorite activities is walking around the West Village or Soho.
