ABOUT US

Mission Statement

SACNAS+ at CU is an organization meant to be a resource for underrepresented, first-generation, low-income individuals in STEM as they navigate their professional / academic endeavors and achieve holistic wellness. This includes a range of members consisting of, but not limited to: undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, postbaccalaureate students, and lab members. We work towards diversifying the STEM workforce and academia through professional development workshops, networking opportunities, and community outreach. SACNAS+ at CU also acknowledges the goals and aspirations of the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) and intends to be all inclusive (+) with members of other underrepresented, first-generation, low-income communities beyond those explicitly named. Our vision is a world where individuals from underrepresented, first-generation, low-income backgrounds are highly respected, influential leaders in the STEM industry and academia settings.
